The era of vertical AI is here. The first wave of enterprise AI was defined by access. As foundation models became more powerful and widely available, every company suddenly had access to extraordinary capabilities. But as AI matures, a new reality is emerging. Some problems are simply too specialized to be solved optimally by models designed to solve everything. Legal work is one of them. Contracts are more than just text. They’re filled with nuance, complexity and subtle distinctions that can materially change meaning, risk and commercial outcome. Understanding them requires expertise in how legal agreements are written, negotiated and managed in practice. That's why we've spent the last year building Luna, our proprietary vertical AI model to sit within Luminance’s broader multi-model architecture. It's clear to me that the next generation of enterprise AI will be built around models trained on specialist data and designed for specialist work.
